MÖTLEY CRÜE's NIKKI SIXX Comments On GENE SIMMONS' 'Rock Is Dead' Remark

MÖTLEY CRÜE and SIXX: A.M. bassist Nikki Sixx is the latest musician to respond to KISS bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons' recent comment that "rock is dead."

Simmonstold Esquire magazine last month — in an interview conducted by his son Nick — that "rock did not die of old age. It was murdered. Some brilliance, somewhere, was going to be expressed and now it won't because it's that much harder to earn a living playing and writing songs. No one will pay you to do it."

Simmons went on to elaborate that as a result of file-sharing and other issues, record label support for rock music was not available like it was when KISS was coming up, concluding, "It's finally dead. Rock is finally dead."

Asked to weigh in on Gene's comments, Sixx told Legendary Rock Interviews: "Gene's not the first to not have his finger on the pulse, and won't be the last."

He continued: "Trust me, new blood is boiling in a garage near you just waiting to be the next biggest band in the world. We need them."

MÖTLEY CRÜE in August completed the first leg of its "The Final Tour" with support from Alice Cooper. The current leg of the trek kicked off on October 10 in Oklahoma City and will conclude on November 22 in Spokane, Washington.

SIXX: A.M.'s new album, "Modern Vintage", was released on October 7 via Eleven Seven Music.
